About Us
Welcome to Don't Touch My Jeans!
While many of our garments are indeed jeans (Levi’s in particular), we want to clarify that we're not limited only to them. The name of our shop stems from our deep appreciation for the unprecedented impact that jeans have had on fashion over the last 150 years. We believe that vintage clothing holds immense value and history, and we strive to share that appreciation with others. Our motto, 'Don't Touch My Jeans,' is a playful reminder that vintage garments should be treated with care and respect, and that they're not just disposable fashion.
Our vintage shop offers an eclectic collection of vibrant and diverse fashion landscape of the 1980s and 1990s. From power dressing with bold patterns, New Wave-inspired skinny ties and trench coats, and preppy classics like polo shirts and blazers, to grunge, sleek ‘90s minimalism, and streetwear, our shop has something for everyone.
As purveyors of vintage clothes, with a particular emphasis on vintage jeans, we aim to mitigate the negative impacts associated with fast fashion. By promoting the reuse and revival of timeless pieces, we contribute to reducing environmental harm caused by excessive production and waste. Our focus on vintage clothing encourages conscious consumption, allowing customers to embrace unique styles while minimizing their carbon footprint. Through our curated collection of vintage jeans, we not only celebrate fashion's rich history but also provide an ethical and socially responsible option for individuals seeking to express themselves without compromising on sustainability.
Why Second-Hand Clothing?
First, the fast fashion business model encourages consumers to buy clothes at a fast pace, which results in a high volume of clothing waste. According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the equivalent of one garbage truckload of textiles is wasted every second, and less than 1% of textiles are recycled back into the production system.
Second, apparel production often involves unsustainable practices, such as the use of non-renewable resources like petroleum in synthetic fabrics, and the extensive use of water and chemicals in the dyeing and finishing processes. These practices have significant environmental impacts, such as pollution, depletion of natural resources and greenhouse gas emissions.
Finally, the fashion industry is also associated with poor working conditions and labor exploitation, especially in countries where labor laws and regulations are not strictly enforced. This includes problems such as low wages, long working hours and unsafe working conditions.
As a consequence of these problems, many people are becoming increasingly aware of the negative impact of the fashion industry and are looking for more sustainable and ethical options when it comes to consuming clothes. This is precisely what prompted us to start this project in the attempt to contribute to a more environmentally friendly and socially responsible approach to fashion. By specializing in vintage denim and reviving old pieces, we are offering a unique and eco-friendly option to consumers looking for more sustainable alternatives to fast fashion.
